Hold the Sun
   About the Filmmakers
Laura Zaylea Laura Zaylea’s work celebrates subjectivity, magic and queer identity within the light and texture of moving video pixels and film grain. Her short, Lydia Li is a "videosploitation and queer girl love story" that relates video genres and aesthetics to the perceived reality of its protagonist, a young, queer, Asian American woman. Camouflage Pink satires genre to the point of its reaffirmation in the campy tale of a high school dyke who secretly wants to go to the prom. Flower Fall is an experimental film that forgoes character completely and invites viewers into the direct experience of light, texture and vibration. Laura Zaylea graduated from Brown University in 2003 with her BA in Art-Semiotics and holds her MFA in Film from the San Francisco Art Institute. Hold The Sun, is the Zaylea's debut feature film.
